Winnipeg Jets forward Nino Niederreiter could play Tuesday against the Seattle Kraken if he feels as good as he did at practice Monday, head coach Rick Bowness announced.
Niederreiter sustained a cut near his Achilles on April 1 against the Los Angeles Kings and has been out of the lineup ever since.
Niederreiter spoke to the media Monday and elaborated on the details of the injury, saying it was a 2-mm cut and it needed eight stitches to close. He described the cut as very close to his Achilles, but there was no damage to the tendon itself.
The Jets currently sit in second place in the Central Division, one point up on the third-place Colorado Avalanche, who they will face in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. With two regular-season games remaining for the Jets and one for the Avalanche, home-ice advantage is still up for grabs.
