The Winnipeg Jets placed forward Mason Appleton on injured reserve and recalled forward Axel Jonsson-Fjallby from AHL Manitoba on an emergency basis, the team announced..
Jets coach Rick Bowness told reporters Appleton (upper-body injury) will not play in a home-and-home series against the Edmonton Oilers on Friday and Saturday.
Bowness also said forward Pierre-Luc Dubois (upper-body injury) is doubtful for Friday's game, but the team is hopeful he can return on Saturday.
Appleton and Dubois both missed Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Kings.
In 22 games this season, Appleton, 27, has two goals and seven assists.
The Jets are hurting at forward with Cole Perfetti (upper body) also out.
Jonsson-Fjallby has four goals and seven assists in 47 games for the Jets this season and three goals and one assists in four games for Manitoba.
