The Winnipeg Jets will be without Mason Appleton for a while.
After missing Monday's game against the Nashville Predators, Winnipeg Jets head coach Scott Arniel shared that Appleton will be out week-to-week with a lower-body injury, and has since placed him on injury reserve retroactive to Dec. 28.
In his 37 games so far this season, Appleton has recorded six goals and nine assists. He had a career-high 14 goals and 36 points last season with Winnipeg.
The 28-year-old hasn't missed many games for the Jets, after playing in all 82 last season. This will be his first extended absence in nearly two years.
Appleton spent his first three seasons in Winnipeg before getting selected by the Seattle Kraken in the 2021 expansion draft. He was quickly returned to the Jets after 49 games for a fourth-round pick.
The Jets are 27-11-2 on the season and first in the Central Division.
