Los Angeles Kings defenceman Drew Doughty exited Friday’s game against the Dallas Stars with a lower body injury, the team confirmed.
Dallas Stars defenceman Jani Hakanpää was skating towards Doughty before there was a knee-on-knee collision. After video review, Hakanpää was called for a major and game misconduct for colliding into Doughty’s right knee.
Doughty needed help off the ice and did not return.
The two-time Stanley Cup champion and Norris Trophy winner has one goal and six assists through seven games played during the 2021-22 season.
