Longtime Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Brown will retire after the team's run in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the team announced Thursday.
Brown, who served as Kings captain from 2008-09 to 2015-16 until centre Anze Kopitar took over the role, won two Stanley Cups with the Kings in 2012 and 2014 and leads the franchise in games played.
The 37-year-old has played his entire 18-season career with the Kings and will make his final regular-season appearance on Thursday night against the Vancouver Canucks. The Kings will then embark on a first-round playoff series against the Edmonton Oilers.
In 1,295 career regular-season games, Brown has produced 325 goals and 387 assists. He has also recorded 19 goals and 28 assists in 85 playoff games.
Brown was drafted 13th overall by the Kings in 2003 and is just the latest player from that draft class to retire. Longtime Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf, who was drafted 19th overall, recently announced his retirement and appeared in his final game on Sunday.
