The Los Angeles Kings have signed defenceman Jacob Moverare to a two-year contract extension through the 2025-26 season, the team announced Wednesday.
The contract is worth an average annual value of $775,000.
The 25-year-old was put on waivers earlier Wednesday, and he could head to AHL Ontario if he clears. The contract, a league minimum deal, will help the Kings boost their defensive depth.
Moverare was selected by the Kings in the fourth round of the 2016 draft. Signing his entry-level contract just days after the draft, he spent two seasons in the OHL with the Mississauga Steelheads, and two seasons with Frölunda HC in the Swedish Hockey League before making his AHL debut with the Ontario Reign in 2021.
Over the last three years, Moverare has played in 31 NHL games for the Kings, registering two assists and 28 penalty minutes. At the minor-league level, the Swede has two goals and 16 assists in 34 games played.
