The Los Angeles Kings have locked up an important member of their blue lines’ future by signing Matt Roy to a three-year, $9.45-million contract extension.
Roy, 26, was scheduled to become a restricted free agent after the season.
Originally a seventh-round pick by the Kings in 2015, Roy has appeared in 119 NHL games since making his debut in 2018-19. In 24 games this season, he has seven assists and a plus-two rating while skating in a career-high 19:16 minutes a game.
