The Seattle Kraken announced Tuesday that they have activated goaltender Philipp Grubauer off of injured reserve.

In a corresponding move, goaltender Chris Driedger has been reassigned to the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds.

Grubauer, 32, has not played since Dec. 9 after suffering a lower-body injury. Prior to being placed on IR, Grubauer had recorded a 3.25 goals-against average and .884 save percentage over 17 appearances this season.

Driedger, 29, had been called up to back up Joey Daccord during Grubauer’s absence. The Manitoba native made two starts for the Kraken during that time — on Dec. 27 and Jan. 16 — earning a 2.51 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.

Over 15 games with the Firebirds this season, Driedger has a 9-5-1 record, along with a 2.20 goals-against average and 9.16 save percentage.
