All 32 NHL teams now have captains.
The Seattle Kraken announced Tuesday that Jordan Eberle will be the second captain in franchise history.
Eberle will be joined by alternate captains Matty Beniers, Yanni Gourde, Adam Larsson and Jaden Schwartz.
"It's an honour to be named captain of the Seattle Kraken," said Eberle in a statement. "I've been able to learn from some great leaders throughout the course of my NHL career. I take pride in being a good teammate and mentor for teammates, and I'm humbled to wear the 'C' for this franchise."
Eberle was selected by the Kraken from the New York Islanders in the expansion draft and is one of 10 players who remain on the team from the inaugural season in 2021. He ranks second in franchise history with 58 goals, 93 assists and 151 points in 239 games for Seattle.
“Jordan's been a leader for our franchise since day one," said Kraken general manager Ron Francis. "He has the full respect of his teammates and is a tremendous role model for our younger players. Jordan's everything you'd want in a captain."
Mark Giordano was the first captain in Kraken history, wearing the 'C' for 55 games in 2021-22.
