The Seattle Kraken have named Mark Giordano as their first captain in franchise history.
Giordano, 38, played his entire 15-year NHL career with the Calgary Flames, where he was captain for his final eight seasons, before being selected by the Kraken in their expansion draft.
“I’m honoured, honestly, to be given responsibility to be the captain of this group of guys and a new organization, new team,” Giordano said. “It means a lot to myself.”
Forwards Jordan Eberle, Jaden Schwartz and Yanni Gourde and defenceman Adam Larsson will be alternate captains.
