The Seattle Kraken have locked up their leading goaltender for the foreseeable future.
Seattle signed Joey Daccord to a five-year, $25-million extension on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old netminder had a breakout season with the Kraken in 2023-24. In 50 games, the Boston native finished with a 2.46 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage — career bests in both categories.
“Joey stepped up last season and proved his ability to handle an increased workload,” Kraken general manager Ron Francis said in a release. “We’re confident he can take his game to another level, and we’re excited to have him under contract long term.”
Daccord was a seventh-round selection of the Ottawa Senators in the 2015 NHL draft.
Before his big 2023-24 season with the Kraken, he had appeared in only 19 NHL games with the Senators and Kraken.
