Kraken trade winger Daniel Sprong to Devils

Daniel Sprong is set to join his third team this season.

The veteran winger is on his way across the country as the Seattle Kraken have traded him to the New Jersey Devils, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported Friday.

The return was not initially reported.

Sprong, 27, has suited up for 19 games in the NHL this season between the Vancouver Canucks and Kraken. He has two goals and three assists in that time.

However, he has not suited up for a game with the Kraken since Dec. 28, after he was placed on waivers in early January and assigned to the American Hockey League's Coachella Valley Firebirds.

In 19 AHL games this season, he has 11 goals and 14 assists.

Sprong started this season with the Canucks, joining the team as a free agent, before being traded to the Kraken for future considerations.

Over 363 career NHL games with the Kraken, Canucks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, Washington Capitals and the Detroit Red Wings, the Amsterdam, Netherlands, native has 87 goals and 77 assists.

He was originally selected by the Penguins 46th overall in the 2015 Draft.
