Seattle Kraken forward Jacob Melanson has been suspended two games for an illegal check to the head on Edmonton Oilers forward James Hamblin, the NHLs department of player safety announced Tuesday.
The suspension is effective immediately and is to be served the next two consecutive games in which he is eligible to play.
Melanson delivered the hit late in the second period of Monday's pre-season game as Hamblin was moving the puck through the neutral zone and looking to avoid Kraken defenceman Michal Kempny.
Melanson was assessed a 10-minute match penalty on the play.
