NHL player safety has suspended Seattle Kraken defenceman Jamie Oleksiak for three games following his high hit on Alexander Alexeyev Friday night.
Oleksiak, 29, caught Alexeyev with a high hit behind the Seattle Kraken net midway through the second period of the Kraken’s game against the Washington Capitals. He was assessed a five-minute major and match penalty for the incident, while Alexeyev missed the remainder of the game and looks as though he could potentially miss time.
The suspension is Oleksiak’s second of his career following a previous suspension while with the Dallas Stars in 2016.
In 22 games for the Kraken this season, Oleksik has four goals and three assists, and is averaging 18:43 time on ice per game, third amongst Kraken defenceman.
