The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded forward Alexander Barabanov to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Antti Suomela.

Barabanov, 26, featured in just 13 games for the Maple Leafs this season after signing a one-year, entry-level deal in April 2020. He joined Toronto after spending parts of seven seasons with the KHL's SKA St. Petersburg.

Suomela, 27, is pointless in four games for the Sharks this season while recording a goal and six points in 10 contests for the AHL's San Jose Barracuda.
