The San Jose Sharks have traded forward Anthony Duclair and a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft to the Tampa Bay Lightning for defenceman Jack Thompson and a third-round pick in the 2024 draft, the teams announced Thursday.
Duclair, a pending unrestricted free agent, is in the final year of a three-year, $9-million deal.
The Sharks acquired Duclair, 28, in a trade with the Panthers last summer after he posted four goals and 11 assists in 20 playoff games for a Florida team that advanced to the Stanley Cup Final.
Duclair has 16 goals and 11 assists for 27 points in 56 games this season. He's been good lately, registering five goals in his past four games.
The New York Rangers picked Duclair in the third round (80th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.
The five-foot-11, 195-pound Duclair will now be joining his seventh NHL team after previously playing for the Rangers, Arizona Coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Senators and Sharks.
The native of Pointe-Claire, Que. has 138 goals and 150 assists for 288 points in 546 career games.
Thompson, 21, has played one game with the Lightning this season. He has five goals and 27 assists in 46 games this season for AHL Syracuse.
The Lightning picked Thompson in the third round (93rd overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft.
