The Tampa Bay Lightning are going to be without one of their most productive blue-liners for the foreseeable future.
Defenceman J.J. Moser is expected to miss 8-10 weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced on Thursday.
The Swiss D-man was injured in Tampa Bay's 8-3 win over the Calgary Flames on Dec. 12 and has since missed the last two games. The team originally listed Moser's status as week-to-week before providing a clearer update ahead of their matchup against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.
Moser, 24, was acquired by the Bolts in the off-season after three years with the Arizona Coyotes (now Utah Hockey Club) and has impressed in his first campaign with Tampa Bay. The 2021 second-rounder has logged two goals, 10 points and a plus-13 rating through 27 appearances.
He had yet to miss a game prior to his injury. Moser is tied for the third-most games played by a Lightning this season and is second behind only Victor Hedman for points amongst defenceman on the roster.
