Lightning's Cernak exits game vs. Devils with upper-body injury

Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Erik Cernak exited Thursday night's game against the New Jersey Devils after suffering an upper-body injury.

Cernak appeared to suffer the injury in the first period after taking a hit from Devils forward Nathan Bastian. Immediately after the hit, Lightning rookie Gage Goncalves charged in to support his teammate.

Cernak, 26, recently missed three games earlier this month after suffering an upper-body injury on Dec. 31 against the Montreal Canadiens.

A two-time Stanley Cup champ with the Lightning, Cernak has five assists in 38 games this season. Across 334 career games, he has 80 points (18 goals and 62 assists).
