Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Mikhail Sergachev returned to practice on Saturday as a full participant just over two months since undergoing surgery to stabilize a fractured fibia and tibia.
Sergachev broke his fibia and tibia in early February against the New York Rangers when he landed awkwardly on his left leg as he tried to make a hit. He had to be stretchered off the ice.
Though Sergachev is progressing quicker than expected, it's still unclear when the 25-year-old will return to game action. He has been ruled out for Game 1 against the Florida Panthers on Sunday.
"I'm feeling pretty good," Sergachev told reporters after practice. "It's nice to get some bumps and breakouts and just stay for the whole practice so it's very nice."
Prior to breaking his leg, the Russian defenceman had returned the day before from a 17-game absence due to a leg injury.
In 34 games this season, Sergachev had two goals and 17 assists for 19 points.
