Andrei Vasilevskiy has joined his teammate and best friend Nikita Kucherov with sponsorship by Bud Light.
The Tampa Bay Lightning star duo’s agent, Dan Milstein, made the announcement on his Twitter account, one day after Bud Light confirmed Kucherov had signed on with them.
Kucherov made headlines after his team’s Stanley Cup win when he showed up to his press conference shirtless and slurring while drinking a Bud Light. In that press conference, he came to the defence of Vasilevskiy, colourfully criticizing the voters who didn’t give his friend the Vezina Trophy in each of the past two seasons.
“Vasi was outstanding. MVP,” Kucherov said. “I was telling him every day: ‘Vasi, you MVP. You’re the best player.’ And then they give it to whatever the guy in Vegas [Marc-Andre Fleury], the Vezina. Last year they gave it to somebody else [Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck]. Number 1 [expletive]. Number 1 [expletive].”
The Lightning will have a boat parade through downtown Tampa on Monday and it’s a safe bet Bud Light will be well-stocked for the celebration.
