'Macklin in Teal': Hockey fans react to Sharks winning 2024 NHL Draft Lottery

It was an anti-climatic NHL Draft Lottery for everyone except fans of the San Jose Sharks.

For the first time since 2010, no teams moved up in Tuesday's lottery, much to the delight of the Sharks.

San Jose finished with a league-worst record of 19-54-9 and will now pick No. 1 overall on June 28 at the 2024 NHL Draft in Las Vegas.

Barring a major surprise, the player the Sharks are expected to pick is Boston University forward Macklin Celebrini. It's the first time in franchise history that San Jose will be selecting first overall.

It seems to be a perfect fit for Celebrini, as he has some major connections to the area. The 17-year-old Canadian grew up playing for the San Jose Junior Sharks, and his father, Rick, works for the nearby Golden State Warriors as the vice president of player health and performance.

"If I'm fortunate enough to get drafted there, I'd be very lucky," Celebrini said to Sportsnet's Sam Cosentino after the Sharks won the lottery.

While fans of the other teams with a chance to win the lottery were left disappointed, Sharks fans took to social media to share their excitement. Here are some of the best reactions.
