Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin has undergone successful knee surgery and is expected to miss the team’s training camp in September.
No specific timeline has been given for Malkin’s return.
Malkin, 34, had been dealing with injuries throughout the season, which ruled him out of Game 1 of the Penguins’ first-round series with the New York Islanders.
The Russian forward finished the regular season with eight goals and 20 assists in 33 games. He posted an additional five points (one goal, four assists) in four playoff appearances this season.
