The Toronto Maple Leafs expect forward Matthew Knies to be able to play against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday, general manager Brad Trelving told reporters Friday.
Knies was forced to leave Thursday's game against the Boston Bruins after colliding with Brad Marchand midway through the first period.
Knies was slow to get up and skated off slowly under his own power to head to the locker room. Head coach Sheldon Keefe did not have an update on his condition after the game.
The Leafs take on the Canadiens in Montreal on Saturday. Watch the game on Hockey Night in Canada on Sportsnet starting at 7 p.m. ET.
The rookie winger has 11 goals and 15 assists in 61 games this season.
A second-round pick in 2021, Knies joined the Leafs late last season after his Minnesota team lost in the NCAA final.
