Matt Murray is sticking around with the Toronto Maple Leafs on a one-year deal worth $875,000.
Murray did not play in the NHL last season after having hip surgery. He did appear in three AHL games with the Toronto Marlies on a conditioning stint where he went 1-2 with a 4.03 goals-against average and a .846 save percentage.
The 30-year-old will likely be kept around as a third goaltending option behind Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz.
Murray was finishing off a four-year deal where he had a $6.25 million cap hit that he signed with the Ottawa Senators before he was traded to Toronto. In his first season with the Leafs he appeared in 26 games going 14-8-2 recording a 3.01 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.
