Toronto Maple Leafs forward Calle Jarnkrok exited Wednesday night's game against the San Jose Sharks in the second period with a groin injury.
The Leafs announced before the third that Jarnkrok would not return.
After the Leafs' 3-1 win, coach Sheldon Keefe said Jarnkrok would be out for "some time." He added Jarnkrok will go for further tests.
The 31-year-old native of Sweden has five goals and four assists in 24 games this season.
Jarnkrok signed a four-year deal with the Maple Leafs prior to this season.
