Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Conor Timmins returned to practice on Tuesday and said he was clear of the mono that kept him off the ice for nearly a month.
Timmins skated on the fourth defence pairing in practice and no timetable was given for his return to game action.
His return will be a welcome sight for Maple Leafs fans as the team has been dealing with a string of recent injuries. That includes Timothy Lilegren (undisclosed), Mark Giordano (concussion) and newly acquired Ilya Lyubushkin, who left Saturday's game against the Rangers after a hard hit but was able to play Monday against the Bruins.
Timmins' pending return will also help the Maple Leafs balance their pairs with left and right shots. Once healthy, Timmins and Lyubushkin would be the only two healthy right-shot defenders on the Maple Leafs, although that could change before Friday's trade deadline.
Timmins also missed the first two months of the season with a lower-body injury, but he has six points in 16 games.
In other Maple Leafs news, forward David Kampf missed practice on Tuesday with an illness.
