Kyle Dubas said he was prepared to pay a premium price to add to his roster and the Toronto Maple Leafs GM did just that by trading for Columbus Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno.
Dubas sent a first-round pick and a fourth-round pick to the Blue Jackets in the trade, with the Sharks acting as an in-between to retain some salary.
With the Maple Leafs leading the North Division, this season might be the team’s best chance to win a Stanley Cup since 1993 — when Foligno’s dad, Mike, was on the roster. Now that the rugged, skilled Foligno has joined the fold, fans of the team took to Twitter to begin planning the parade.
Here are some of the best reactions to the move.
I’m looking at this purely from what has been added and not from what has been paid.
Foligno will add a lot of what is needed come playoff time. I’m on board.— UK_Leaf (@uk_leaf) April 11, 2021
I've always been a big fan of Nick Foligno style of play. The time has come. Time to make a push. #LeafsForever pic.twitter.com/5PJ3sYV6ui

Come playoffs the Leafs will be icing Matthews, Tavares, Foligno and Nash at their centre position. That’s rather strong.

My dad and long time and long suffering Leafs fan @jbn56 wanted Foligno, so I don’t think my pappy would steer me or the @MapleLeafs wrong
