Maple Leafs' Jack Campbell to start in Game 1 vs. Canadiens

Sportsnet's Sarah Nurse and Justin Bourne breakdown the Scotia North Division's first, second, and third all-star team with Caroline Cameron on Hockey Central.

Goaltender Jack Campbell will be in the net when the Toronto Maple Leafs open the Stanley Cup Playoffs Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens.

Head coach Sheldon Keefe confirmed his starting goaltender Sunday after practice.

Frederik Andersen has started every playoff game for the Maple Leafs over the past four seasons but injuries and performance saw Campbell pass Andersen on the Maple Leafs depth chart in the second half of the season.

Campbell made 22 starts for the Maple Leafs this season, one less than Andersen, but 19 of them came in the team's final 25 games after Andersen went down with an undisclosed injury on March 19. Campbell posted a 17-3-2 record with a .921 save percentage and two shutouts this season while Andersen had a 13-8-3 record and career-worst .895 save percentage.

You can watch Game 1 between the Maple Leafs and Canadiens, the first playoff meeting between the two rivals in more than 40 years, Thursday night on Sportsnet, CBC and SN Now. Coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. ET/ 4:30 p.m. PT.
