Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Jake Muzzin was with his teammates on Saturday night at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, however it wasn’t on the ice during his team’s 4-2 loss to the Kings.
Muzzin was placed on long-term injured reserve this week after sustaining a neck injury in a game against the Arizona Coyotes earlier this month. According to Sportsnet’s Luke Fox, Muzzin attended Saturday’s game in L.A because he is seeing a specialist in the city.
Muzzin, who spent the first seven-plus seasons of his NHL career with the Kings, has only suited up for four games this season.
“Jake's had a number of injuries that have been cause for concern for us, and anytime a player gets injured and has many injuries, as Jake has had to deal with, there is concern, of course,” Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters earlier this month. “How much concern, I don't know. I think it's probably too early to say at this point. … So, you know, we'll let the process take care of itself with the medical folks and take it from there.”
Toronto currently has five players in injured reserve. The team is 4-4-1 and concludes its west coast road trip Sunday in Anaheim against the Ducks.
