Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kämpf will not be available to play this week, but will be considered day-to-day starting next week, head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters Monday.
Keefe previously told reporters on Sunday that Kämpf got "banged up a bit" before the all-star break and would be undergoing an MRI.
The 29-year-old has appeared in 46 games for the Maple Leafs this season, with four goals and four assists.
Keefe also provided an update on goaltender Joseph Woll, saying he's not "anywhere close" to game action as he recovers from an ankle injury. Woll resumed on-ice activities last month, but the Toronto bench boss said at the time that there was "no timeline" on his recovery.
Woll has been sidelined since Dec. 8, when he was forced to leave in the third period against the Ottawa Senators, where he'd made 29 out of 31 saves.
The 25-year-old had emerged as the Maple Leafs' most reliable netminder this season prior to his injury, posting an 8-5-1 record, 2.82 GAA and .915 save percentage in 14 games.
The Maple Leafs return to game action on Monday night, following the all-star break, taking on the New York Islanders. Catch all the game action on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ starting at 4 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT.
