Similar to the past couple of days, Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe didn't have any update Sunday on William Nylander's playing status.
"No updates on Willy," Keefe said on Sunday. Asked a second time about how Nylander was feeling, the coach smiled and repeated: "No updates on Willy."
Nylander missed Game 1 against the Boston Bruins with an undisclosed injury. Calle Järnkrok made his return to the lineup in Nylander's place.
Steve Conroy of The Boston Herald reported that Nylander was on the ice with a handful of players for an optional skate.
Keefe also offered no potential updates on whether he is considering changes to the goaltending lineup ahead of Game 2. Toronto lost 5-1 to Boston in the series opener.
Nylander reached 40 goals for the second straight campaign and set a career-high with 98 points in 2023-24, but registered just four assists over his final 11 games of the schedule. Nylander had four goals and 10 points in 11 playoff games last spring as Toronto won a series for the first time in nearly two decades.
