Pontus Holmberg will make his return to the lineup for Monday's game against the New York Islanders.
Holmberg was recalled from the AHL's Toronto Marlies after being loaned back on Jan. 18 where he had an assist in two games. The 23-year-old has appeared in 28 games with the Leafs this season, recording four goals and 11 points while impressing Sheldon Keefe with his play.
“I can’t find this guy making a mistake,” Keefe said about Holmberg, eight games into the rookie’s career.
The team placed Dryden Hunt on waivers in order to make room for Holmberg on the roster. Hunt was not claimed by any teams and has been officially loaned to the Marlies.
