The Toronto Maple Leafs started Ilya Samsonov in goal on Friday against the Ottawa Senators after declaring earlier that Matt Murray was supposed to get the call against his old team.
Sportsnet's Chris Cuthbert reported that coach Sheldon Keefe would update Murray's status after the game.
Murray took a high shot from William Nylander in pre-game warmups that may have hurt him, though it is not known if that is the reason.
Samsonov had made four starts in a row for Toronto before Keefe originally made the decision to go with Murray against his old Senators team on Friday.
