Toronto Maple Leafs winger Mitch Marner has tied a franchise record by recording a point for the 18th game in a row on Wednesday.
Marner extended his point streak with an empty-net goal against the visiting San Jose Sharks with 1:11 left in the third period, the final goal in Toronto's 3-1 win.
Marner matched the mark set by Darryl Sittler and Ed Olczyk. Sittler had 33 points from Jan. 26-March 8, 1978 while Olczyk had 28 points from Dec. 2, 1989-Jan. 8, 1990.
Marner now has 24 points during his streak and was named the first star in Wednesday's 3-1 victory over San Jose.
Marner has a chance to break the record on Saturday night when the Leafs face the Tampa Bay Lightning.
