Maple Leafs' Murray dealing with ankle injury, Samsonov to start vs. Capitals

Toronto Maple Leafs' Sheldon Keefe tells media that goaltender Matt Murray has an ankle injury and will go for more testing this weekend & that the injury was not keeping Murray out of the net rather Ilya Samsonov had been playing great of late.

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matt Murray is dealing with an ankle injury that was aggravated during warmup prior to Friday's game against the Ottawa Senators.

Head coach Sheldon Keefe confirmed that Ilya Samsonov will start in goal Sunday against the Washington Capitals. The 25-year-old allowed six goals on 34 shots after he was forced to start on short notice against the Senators.

Murray will undergo testing to determine the severity of the ankle injury. In 19 games this season, the 28-year-old has an 11-5-2 record with a 2.73 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.

Defenceman T.J. Brodie said after Saturday's practice that he feels good to play against the Capitals but has to wait for clearance from the medical staff to return to game action.
