The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that defenceman Jake Muzzin is out indefinitely with a cervical spine injury.
Muzzin was placed on long-term injured reserve after sustaining a neck injury in a game against the Arizona Coyotes in October. The team says he will be re-evaluated in February.
General manager Kyle Dubas said Monday the team will take a cautious approach with Muzzin.
Meanwhile, defenceman T.J. Brodie, who was absent during Toronto's game against the Vancouver Canucks with Jordie Benn slotting in his place on Saturday, has been placed on injured reserve with an oblique injury.
General manager Kyle Dubas said he expects Brodie to miss at least two weeks.
Pontus Holmberg and Mac Hollowell have been recalled from the Toronto Marlies in their place.
