Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Jake Muzzin says he is feeling good and there is potential to participate in one of Toronto's pre-season exhibition games this weekend, per Sportsnet's Luke Fox.
Muzzin has been out as he has been working through discomfort in his back that also kept him out of most of the Maple Leafs' main training camp sessions.
Playing in only 47 games last season due to injury, the Leafs' blue-liner had three goals and 14 points in that span.
Back injuries have been part of Muzzin's entire hockey career, as at age 15 he had two herniated discs that forced him to miss his entire first season with the OHL's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
Even after suffering injuries in the 2020 and 2021 post-seasons and missing time during the 2021-22 regular-season campaign, Muzzin returned in April and played every game during Toronto's first-round playoff series against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
