The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled forwards Pontus Holmberg and Alex Steeves and goalie Joseph Woll from the Toronto Marlies and placed goaltender Matt Murray on injured reserve, the club announced Thursday.
Murray, who last played on Jan. 17, has been out with an ankle injury since late last month. He has been troubled by injuries for the last several seasons.
Speaking to reporters, general manager Kyle Dubas said it would be a couple of weeks before Murray will be able to return from the injury.
Despite being on injured reserve, Murray skated before team practice Thursday.
Murray is 11-5-2 with a 2.73 goals-against average and .911 save percentage this season.
The Leafs acquired Murray in a summer deal with the Ottawa Senators.
Woll is 13-1 with a 2.36 GAA with the Marlies this season. He will make his Maple Leafs season debut Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Steeves has 16 goals and 22 assists for 38 points in 44 games for the Marlies this season.
Homberg has five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 33 games with the Leafs this season and two goals and four assists in 14 games for the Marlies.
