The Toronto Maple Leafs' star players showed up and showed out in the second period against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night, evaporating the team's two-goal deficit and taking the lead in a matter of minutes.
Trailing 3-1 at the halfway mark of the second period, Mitchell Marner, William Nylander and John Tavares scored three Maple Leafs goals in exactly three minutes to storm out to a 4-3 lead.
To start things off, Marner intercepted a Ryan McLeod pass in front of the Oilers' net before completely undressing Stuart Skinner and finishing into the open cage.
Safe to say fans and media alike took notice of the highlight-reel play.
Then, just under two minutes later, Marner forced another turnover to set up Nylander, who beat Skinner five-hole to tie the game.
And finally, captain Tavares took an Auston Matthews' feed and buried a one-timer into the top shelf to complete the three-minute barrage.
Though not part of the rapid-fire montage, Tavares netted his second of the game with just over a minute remaining in the frame to give Toronto a two-goal cushion.
