One day after making a massive playoff-motivated trade, the Maple Leafs made some minor moves, recalling goalie Erik Källgren from the Marlies.
Forward Pontus Holmberg, who has been back and forth with the AHL club all season, was sent down.
Head coach Sheldon Keefe confirmed that Joseph Woll would start on Saturday night against the Montreal Canadiens, with Källgren backing him up. Regular starter Ilya Samsonov missed Friday's practice with an illness. Samsonov was on the ice for Saturday's morning skate, but won't play.
The Leafs' other regular goalie, Matt Murray, hasn't played since Jan. 17. He was placed on injured reserve on Feb. 9 with an ankle injury, but then moved to long-term injured reserve on Friday. GM Kyle Dubas revealed on Saturday morning that Murray would be eligible to return on Feb. 28.
You can watch the Maple Leafs take on the Canadiens Saturday night on Hockey Night in Canada live on Sportsnet and SN NOW at 7:00 p.m. ET/ 4:00 p.m. PT.
