  • Maple Leafs recall Nick Robertson, Wayne Simmonds and Victor Mete from AHL

    The Toronto Maple Leafs recalled forwards Nicholas Robertson and Wayne Simmonds plus defenceman Victor Mete from the AHL's Toronto Marlies on Sunday.

    Robertson has one goal and one assist in two games with the Marlies this season. One of Toronto's top prospects, the 21-year-old from Pasadena, Calif., was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the second round (53rd overall) in 2019 and has one goal and one assist in 16 games with the big club.

    The veteran Simmonds is in his third season with the Maple Leafs and had five goals and 16 points in 72 games last season. The 34-year-old from Scarborough, Ont., also surpassed the 1,000 games plateau and in total has 263 goals and 524 points over 14 seasons in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, New Jersey Devils, Buffalo Sabres and Maple Leafs.

        Mete joined Toronto this season from the Ottawa Senators. The 24-year-old from Woodbridge, Ont., had seven assists in 37 games last season. He has played in two games with the Marlies this year.
