The Toronto Maple Leafs are going to give Dakota Mermis another look.
The Leafs reclaimed the defenceman off waivers on Friday, one day after he was put up for grabs by the Utah Hockey Club.
The Leafs have assigned Mermis to the AHL Marlies.
Utah originally claimed Mermis off waivers from the Leafs on Dec. 12.
Mermis, who suffered a fractured jaw in the pre-season, played his first and only NHL game this season on Dec. 22 for Utah.
He had three goals and five assists in 47 games with the Minnesota Wild in 2023-24.
Mermis, 30, signed a one-year, $775,000 deal with the Leafs prior to this season.
