Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly exited Monday's game against the New York Islanders in the third period with an injury after a collision with forward Kyle Palmieri.
After the game, coach Sheldon Keefe said Rielly will need more tests on Tuesday to determine the severity.
Rielly went down in the neutral zone after their legs made contact. He immediately skated off and went to the locker room, missing the rest of Toronto's 3-2 overtime defeat.
The Leafs' defence already is short-handed with Jake Muzzin (cervical spine injury) and T.J. Brodie (oblique) both out.
The 28-year-old Rielly has no goals and 16 assists in 20 games this season.
