Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov and newly-acquired Winnipeg Jets centre Gabriel Vilardi are among the 22 NHL players who have elected to go to arbitration ahead of the July 6 deadline, the league announced.
The arbitration hearings will be held from July 20 to Aug 4.
Samsonov, 26, was acquired by the Maple Leafs as a free agent on July 13, 2022 and played last season on a one-year contract worth $1.8 million. He went on to post a career-high .919 save percentage during the regular season and helped the Leafs to their first playoff series victory since 2004.
Vilardi was acquired by the Jets in the deal that sent centreman Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Los Angeles Kings late last month. Despite struggling with injuries since being selected 11th overall in 2017, the 23-year-old had a breakout campaign in 2022-23, scoring 23 goals and 41 points.
"The Jets traded for me, so obviously they want me," Vilardi said after being traded. "I want to be there. I'm excited."
Jets winger Morgan Barron and Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan McLeod were also among the players who filed for arbitration.
