Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Rasmus Sandin was removed from Tuesday night's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning after heading suffering a neck injury, per the team.
Sandin left the game late in the second period with an undisclosed problem as T.J. Brodie paired up with Timothy Liljegren on what was supposed to be Sandin's next shift.
Post-game, head coach Sheldon Keefe told media Sandin had been removed for precautionary reasons and that his neck would require further evaluation before a more detailed update could be provided.
The Maple Leafs' injuries across their blue line have been a primary cause for concern this season. Jake Muzzin (neck) and Morgan Rielly (knee) have been out for extended periods of time while Victor Mete (lower body) was recently placed on the injured reserve
Sandin has two goals and 12 assists so far this season, adding one more point to his tally against the Lightning before being taken out of the game. He has appeared in every game for the Leafs this season.
