Cade Webber is going to have a longer stay with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The six-foot-seven defenceman signed a two-year contract extension with the Leafs, beginning in the 2025-26 season, the team announced on Monday. It has an average annual value of $825,000.
The Leafs acquired the Boston University product in a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes in March and then signed him a two-year deal the next month.
Webber helped Boston advance to the Frozen Four semifinals last year. He was named Hockey East's best defensive defenceman.
The Hurricanes took Webber, 23, in the fourth round (99th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft.
