The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Kyle Clifford to a two-year contract extension and defenceman Carl Dahlström to a one-year, two-way contract extension, the team announced on Wednesday.
Clifford, 31, has two assists in 10 games with the Maple Leafs this season. Clifford, from Ayr, Ont., began this season with the St. Louis Blues, where he recorded one assist in two games before being traded to Toronto on Nov. 16, 2021. In 738 career NHL games with Los Angeles, St. Louis and Toronto, Clifford has 142 points (65 goals and 77 assists) while adding 16 points (four goals and 12 assists) in 64 playoff games. Clifford is a two-time Stanley Cup champion, winning with Los Angeles in both 2012 and 2014.
Clifford's new contract carries an average annual value of $762,500 through the 2023-24 season.
Dahlström, 27, has appeared in one game with the Maple Leafs, mainly playing for the Marlies in the AHL this season, where has has 13 assists in 36 games. Before joining the Maple Leafs organization as a free agent on July 28, 2021, the Stockholm, Sweden, native spent time with the Winnipeg Jets and Chicago Blackhawks.
Dahlström was selected by Chicago in the second round, 51st overall, of the 2013 NHL Draft. His two-way extension carries an NHL salary of $750,000 in 2022-23.
