The 25-year-old, a 20-goal-scorer with the Anaheim Ducks just a few years ago, spent the past season and a half with the Bruins after being flipped to Boston in the deal that sent David Backes to Anaheim.
Hampered by injuries, Kase suited up for only nine games as a Bruin over the past two campaigns, posting one assist in that span.
He was not qualified by the Bruins earlier this month, leaving him open to an acquisition by a new club.
Originally a seventh-round pick back in 2014, Kase has 97 total points through 207 career NHL tilts.
