The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forward Zach Aston-Reese to a professional tryout contract Friday.

Aston-Reese registered five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 69 games last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Anaheim Ducks.

He was traded from Pittsburgh to Anaheim on March 21 along with Calle Clang, Dominik Simon and a second-round draft pick for Rickard Rakell.

The 28-year-old from Staten Island, N.Y., has 32 goals and 34 assists for 66 points in 230 games over the past five seasons.

He signed as an undrafted free agent with Pittsburgh in 2017 following four years at Northeastern University.
