The Toronto Maple Leafs, as many expected them to do, signed veteran forwards Max Pacioretty and Steven Lorentz to contracts on Monday, converting their professional tryouts into NHL deals.
The 35-year-old Pacioretty signed a one-year deal with an annual average value of $873,770. Performance bonuses could increase his compensation by another $600,000, kicking in at 10 and 35 games played. His last two seasons were plagued by a pair of Achilles tendon injuries and he wound up playing 47 games for the Capitals in 2023-24, picking up four goals and 19 assists.
Lorentz, 28, also signed a one-year contract, worth $775,000, coming off winning the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers in the spring.
The Maple Leafs also announced that defenceman Cade Webber, 23, had signed a two-year extension that begins in 2025-26 with an AAV of $825,000 at the NHL level. Webber was drafted in the fourth round in 2019 by the Carolina Panthers and was traded to Toronto in March for a sixth-round pick in 2026.
